2006 Ford Tour de Georgia is Here

Once again, Aaron’s Corporate Furnishings is proud to sponsor the Tour de Georgia, North America's premier, professional cycling event and rolling festival.   For the second consecutive year, Aaron’s will is the named sponsor of the Most Aggressive Rider (“MAR”) Jersey.  The MAR competition is the most unique during the race, as it is the only jersey awarded on a subjective basis.  The Aaron's Most Aggressive Rider jersey is awarded daily to the rider, who is judged by a panel of media and race entourage officials, to have demonstrated the most aggressive attacks, breakaways or strategies. Upon the finish of each stage, the rider with the most votes from this elite panel wears the blue and green (kudzu covered) jersey.

As every year, the Tour de Georgia draws hundreds of thousands of spectators across the state and brings significant awareness to the event beneficiary, the Georgia Cancer Coalition.   The Georgia Cancer Coalition leads Georgia's comprehensive cancer initiative, uniting people and organizations to work together to save lives and reduce suffering from cancer.

This year all Aaron’s employees are encouraged to come out, watch the event and participate in the festival.  As with all cycling events, admission is free.  In particular, Sunday’s final stage in Alpharetta may be of special interest to Aaron’s employees.  Last year, over 70,000 people showed up to watch history in the making as Lance Armstrong raced his last race in America and passed the baton to his young protégé Tom Danielson.  Come out and see whether Danielson can repeat as champion in 2006.

Aaron’s Events Include:

Jersey Presentation

Each day a lucky Aaron’s employee will present the MAR jersey on stage to the day’s winner.

Stage 1, Macon,

Thirty-five (35) Regional and Sales Managers make the trek down to Macon to watch the Aaron’s Professional Women’s Team participate in the Susan G. Komen Cycle for the Cure Criterium, cheer on the men in the finish of the first stage, and participate in some team building events.  This is the second year the regional meeting has involved the TdG with last year’s event being a huge success.  Races start at 2:00PM.

Also in Macon, the Aaron’s Professional Women’s Cycling Team will be in the Live Healthy Expo, signing autographs and holding a drawing for a bike give-away.  Come by and see them before the finish of the stage.
